I wanted to try-out these traditional Chinese shoes for myself; I liked the idea of thin soles which allow you a better feel of the ground beneath your feet.
After five years of wearing them occasionally, the pair I've worn outdoors are beat-up but still wearable! The ones I kept cleaner mainly for indoor use are still in excellent shape.
The price is very fair. Also, there are no other shoes available to Americans that are like these. Though the cotton souls are certainly not going to hold-up to everyday wear & tear like normal rubber soled shoes do, but that's to be expected, as the design is literally ancient. Shoes like these have been made for hundreds of years in China and other Far-East nations.
These shoes are excellent for both the Tai Chi, Yoga, and balance-beam practice; all of which I do frequently, and so I'd recommend them for martial arts as well. Also if you simply want a nice pair of comfortable slipper-like shoes to wear around the house, these are for you!Pros:+Traditional Time-Honored Design
+Extremely Comfortable
+Surprisingly Durable
+Great for Many Applications; martial arts, everyday walks, or house slippers.
+Fairly Priced / Excellent Value
Cons:-The cotton soul will eventually rip under the rigors of outdoor terrains like concrete and paved surfaces. However because the souls are made of MANY layers of cotton, they will not become useless, just tattered.
-No good to wear outside on rainy days; your feet will get wet!
